Kids Fringe Picks

Fringe 2018 events for the kiddos this year is a list as long as 100 pieces of stringy cheese. I have gathered a few that I think sound amazing and that I will be taking my tribe to over the next few weeks.

Opening Night Festivities: 15 February

With the official opening the night of Friday  16th February, there are plenty of family friendly festivities happening along North Terrace. Kicking off at  5pm, will be a huge street party including six performance spaces hosting more than 60 artists plus a ‘Frusic’ stage featuring live music from local acts.

North Terrace will also be the site of a moving Tindo Utpurndee — Sunset Ceremony on the SA Museum leans at 8pm before the amazing Parade of Light projections are officially switched on at 8.30pm.
The projections will light up iconic North Terrace cultural buildings on every night of this year’s festival and include the Australian premiere of Swiss artist Dan Acher’s recreation of the Norther Lights, Borealis.

GROUNDED – Victoria Square/ Tarntanyangga: 16 – 24 February

GROUNDED is this year’s hot and happening hub for kids and their adults during Adelaide Fringe 2018, running from Friday 16 February to Sunday 25 February. Located in Victoria Square/ Tarntanyangga, to create new family friendly fringe hub. Offering free activities as well as ticketed international theatre shows, public art installations, GROUNDED is a safe comfortable environment that is creative, irreverent, daring and fun.

GROUNDED is the creative concept of David Sefton, the four-time artistic director of the Adelaide Festival, and produced with collaboration from Insite Arts and Carclew.

At the heart of the GROUNDED experience are the international theatrical eventSALTBUSH – CHILDREN’S CHEERING CARPET and THE SECRET LIFE OF SUITCASES. Catering to children aged 3 to 10, these joyful shows offer delightful interactive experiences for young children in purpose-built theatres. Experience The Megaphone Project – a collection of red megaphones of many shapes and sizes, as well as enjoying an amazing array of delicious local food and beverages through a partnership with Adelaide Central Market traders.

Mr Snot Bottom’s Stinky Silly Songs: 17 February – 18 March

The Willy Wonka of Weird! The Peter Pan of Putrid! Mr Snot bottom is a hilariously deeeesgusting kids comedian brimming with all the oeeey, gooey, gross out topics kids love: boogers, bottoms, pop-offs and smells!
