18th Unley Gourmet Gala Returns To The Road

In the heart of  Unley and the middle of the Tour Down Under, the Unley Gourmet Gala street party is on next Tuesday evening, along the popular shopping and dining precinct King William Road.

With no lycra on the dress code, wander this street festival, now in its 18th year, while enjoying gourmet food stalls, South Australian wines, beers, ciders and gins, all while watching cooking demonstrations from local chef Heather Day (2016 Master Chef finalist) and fashion parades from local King William Street businesses. There will be loads of entertainment across 3 stages, including DJs, musicians and roving entertainers.

A highlight of the entertainment line up will be the World Music Stage, featuring performers from as far as Lebanon and Syria to Greece and Ghana.

This free family friendly event kicks off at 5pm, and has loads of activities for the kids including cycling craft, face painting and bike balloon artists. The Amazing Drumming Monkeys will also take the stage at 6pm and 8pm, which will be sure to get the kids up and dancing.

Always a highlight of the Unley Gourmet Gala is the fashion parades, on at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm, and this year featuring local designers and boutiques including Tiff Manuell, Paige Rowe, Denim & Cloth, Designer Exchange, Move Over Menswear, Wild Child and Willywags.

Everyone is then welcomed back the next morning, to cheer off the riders for the Stage 2 of the Santos Tour Down Under.  Festivities for Stage 2 of the Santos Tour Down Under will begin at 9.30am, and there will be breakfast available and on-street entertainment from the Unley Concert Band before the peloton leaves for Stirling at 11am.

With more than 20,000 people expected to attend the Unley Gourmet Gala, its sure to be an amazing night.
